Learning to play an instrument is a great way to develop learning behaviours and the feeling of accomplishment is like no other when a piece of music comes off in a performance.
It is for this reason that children at Chalfont Valley receive specialist music teaching.
For Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5, musicians from Buckinghamshire Music Centre visit us weekly so that children learn to play an instrument for an entire academic year, learning to play both stringed instruments (ukulele and violin) and percussion instruments.
We also a class set of African drums, 3 drum kits and recorders.
Since 2019, some of our children have been receiving specialist music teaching across Yr1 to Yr 5 and paid 1:1 and small group tuition.
Keep an eye out for the dates of our performances.
Mr Sykes is our resident musician – as well as our current Year 6 teacher and KS2 Phase Leader. He is currently working on creating our own Radio station run by our students called ‘ Radio Chalfont ‘.
